.ar is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to Argentina, currently managed by the Network Information Center Argentina (NIC Argentina).
The ".ar" domain is Argentina's country code top-level domain (ccTLD). Due to its coincidence with the abbreviation for Augmented Reality (AR), it is also commonly used by AR and XR-related businesses.
Second-level .ar domains are open for registration but require an Argentine address for contact purposes. Registrants can be foreigners. Some third-level domains have specific restrictions and are only available to certain entities within Argentina. For example:
- com.ar - For companies and individuals residing in Argentina (open for registration)
- net.ar – For internet service providers licensed by the Argentine National Communications Commission (open for registration)
- coop.ar – For Argentine registered cooperatives
- edu.ar – For Argentine educational institutions
- gob.ar, gov.ar – For local and national government entities in Argentina
- int.ar – For international entities and representatives of foreign international organizations based in Argentina
- mutual.ar – For mutual aid organizations registered within Argentina
- mil.ar – For Argentine military institutions
- org.ar – For Argentine non-profit organizations, with valid proof required
- senasa.ar – For legal entities and individuals related to the Argentine National Service for Food Safety and Quality
- seg.ar - For companies authorized by the Argentine National Insurance Supervisory Authority
- tur.ar – For tourism companies licensed by the Argentine Ministry of Tourism. Provincial or municipal government entities promoting their respective province or city can also use this second-level domain.
- musica.ar – For any member listed by the Argentine National Registry of Musicians and Musical Groups
- bet.ar – For online gambling operators licensed by local and national governments in Argentina.
